Is a Consultation with an Attorney about your Federal Employment Case “Worth It”?

The question of whether paying for a particular service is worth the cost is a question without one set answer.  Instead, it’s a matter of personal opinion whether you feel the cost of a service was worth what you paid.

When it comes to having a consultation with one of the attorneys at our firm, we charge a $150* consultation fee (prior to applicable credit card service fees) for a phone consultation that can last up to an hour.

*After charging a $100 consultation fee for the past 10+ years, we found it necessary to increase our consultation fee to $150 effective June 1, 2024.

During your consultation, our goal is to hear from you, learn about your particular federal employment issue, and work together to brainstorm about your potential legal options to address your specific issue.  If you are seeking legal representation from our office, we will also go over with you during the consultation whether we can offer to represent you at that time, and, if so, what the expectations would be in terms of legal fees.

In addition to talking through your particular employment issue during a phone call with one of our attorneys, part of our consultation process involves reviewing your relevant documentation, if you send us documentation prior to our phone consultation.  Our goal is always to be able to get enough information about your case, through our review of your documents combined with our phone discussion with you, to be able to make an informed assessment of your particular employment issue.

You are never obligated to retain our firm when you consult with us.  A consultation involves a single flat fee and no expectations or requirements for you to retain us.  Sometimes, an individual who schedules a consultation with our firm is not necessarily seeking legal representation, but instead is simply trying to find out what, if any, legal options they have to address an issue they are experiencing in their federal job.

If you find yourself having questions about the legality of certain actions taken by your employing federal agency, scheduling a consultation with an attorney from our office can help determine what, if any, legal options you have available to you to address your concerns.  No strings attached; no pressure for you to retain us.

If you have concerns related to your federal employment and would like to discuss your situation with an attorney, please call the law firm of Bonney, Allenberg, O’Reilly, & Eddy, P.C. at 757-460-3477 to set up an initial consultation with one of our attorneys.
